Sinclair Broadcast Group announced today that it has reached an “agreement-in-principle” with Comcast on a new, multi-year retrans deal.
The new deal means that 36 Sinclair stations in 22 markets will continue to be carried by Comcast.
Sinclair has been at the negotiating table a lot over the past few months as it has aggressively tried to establish the value of its stations with cable providers. In January, Sinclair signed a multi-year retrans deal with Bright House Networks, which carries six Sinclair stations in Florida and Alabama. And after months of back-and-forth, including threats of a black-out, the company finally reached an agreement with Time Warner Cable in early February.
