See How This Memphis Station Handled a Power Outage Right Before Its Newscast

Memphis NBC affiliate WMC lost power last night right before its 10 p.m. newscast, so the anchors and crew did what anyone would do, they pulled out their smartphones.

The station told viewers a power outage in midtown Memphis forced it to turn on its generator, but that eventually failed. “We’re surprised that happened,” said the station. “Because we do regular testing on the generator to make sure it works.”

So last night, WMC did a show on Facebook with only their smartphones to light their way.

This morning, the power was back on, but the station says “our crew was a little toasty with no air conditioning in our control room or in our studio, and our audio board was acting a little funny. So they, too did a newscast on Facebook.
