San Diego’s XETV Adding 4PM Newscast

xetv-logoI’m sensing a trend here. Yesterday, we wrote about Raleigh CBS affiliate WRAL producing an additional 4:00 p.m. newscast for sister station WRAZ, and now we’ve learned that San Diego CW affiliate XETV is adding one of its own.

The hour-long newscast will be anchored by Jim Patton, Neda Iranpour and meteorologist Sabrina Fein, the current 10:00 p.m. news team.

“We will be producing stories aimed at the viewers who are home at that time of the day with a good mix of the day’s news but also stories and interviews on health, pocketbook issues that will better prepare our viewers for the future and the latest on the San Diego arts and entertainment scene,” XETV news director Don Shafer explains. “It will be a well-rounded and interesting hour.”

In addition to adding a 4:00 p.m. newscast, XETV has announced that their half-hour weekend 10:00 p.m. show will expand to a full hour beginning January 17.

The new 4:00 p.m. show debuts on Monday.
