Sale of Orlando’s WFME is Called Off

A deal to sell Orlando public broadcasting station WFME has been called off and the station will seek a better offer, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

WFME announced a year ago that the station would be sold to Daystar, a religious broadcaster. The FCC had yet to approve the sale.

“It became clear to WFME that the current deal we had in place was being drawn out longer than we anticipated,” station president and CEO Jose Fajardo told the Sentinel. “The market conditions have changed in a favorable way to be able to pursue other options for WFME.”

Fajardo said WFME has no plans to remain in the public television business and plans on focusing on radio.
