Longtime WHEC anchor, Rebecca LeClair, has opted out of the remainder of her contract and resigned from the station.

This news comes after rumors circulated a couple weeks ago that she was being pushed out.

The station posted statements from both LeClair and general manager, Derek Dalton. They addressed LeClair’s decision to leave her position as the main anchor at the Hubbard Broadcasting owned NBC affiliate in Rochester, where she has been working for the past 29 years.

LeClair told a local paper that in addition to spending more time with her family she will launch her own communications company.
