WRIC reporter Parker Slaybaugh reminded viewers to check their local animal shelters before getting a new puppy or cat this holiday season.
In a Facebook video, Slaybaugh said the reaction to a story about stray dog hanging out in a park for a few days, waiting for its owner to return made him think about all the stray dogs and cats in shelters waiting to be adopted.
“Such a great message!” wrote a viewer on the Facebook post. “There are great pets in every single shelter, so if you’re looking for a new pet, don’t give up!”
