Reporter Offers Swimwear Discount on Instagram Account

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

FTVlive broke a story on Wednesday about WCPO reporter Jasmine Minor‘s Instagram post pushing a bathing suit line and offering a promo code for her followers to purchase the item at a discount.

This is typically what social media influencers do. But as FTVLive pointed out, is it OK with the Scripps-owned station for its journalists to push products and sales on social too?

WOSU, the public radio station in Cincinnati, picked up the story and corresponded with the station’s general manager who said, “We’re aware of the post and we are looking into the matter.”

FTVLive has a screen shot of the photo. Minor has since removed it from her feed. Minor transferred to WCPO from the Scripps station in Fort Myers, Fla., in 2019.
