Pittsburgh, Penn., reporter Michele Newell is making a move within Cox Media Group. On Friday, Newell is leaving the Pittsburgh NBC affiliate WPXI for the Cox station in Atlanta.

Newell, who has worked at NBC affiliate WPXI since 2018, will join Atlanta ABC affiliate WSB as a reporter in November.

“It’s a big career move for me,” Newell told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “You have to think that not even a decade ago, I was stocking shelves at Burlington Coat Factory while trying to break into TV news. … To be in a market [like Atlanta] and work for WSB is huge.”
