WFTV gm Shawn Bartelt is retiring after 15 years with Cox Media Group.

When Bartelt steps down June 19, she will be replaced by CMG vp of Sales Paul Curran as gm of the Orlando ABC affiliate.

“We will miss Shawn’s leadership, insights, experience, and energy and wish her the utmost success in her future adventures,” said CMG evp of TV Jane Williams. “Shawn has enjoyed an impressive decades-long broadcast career and has been tireless force in the Orlando community, endearing Orlando to WFTV/WRDQ.”

Bertelt started her career as a reporter at WWSB and WMBB in Sarasota and Panama City, Fla. She moved into sales at WWSB and was later named National Sales Manager. She’s also worked at WESH in Orlando and WPBF in West Palm Beach. She joined Cox in 2000 as director of Sales for WSOC-WAXN in Charlotte. She was promoted to vp and gm of WFTV in 2006.

“I have so many opportunities and projects I want to pursue now, including time with my family and world travel,” said Bartelt. “I will miss working with such a talented group of media professionals, all of whom contribute so much to the success of our stations, each and every day.”
