On the Move: Aug. 3

Two anchors in different cities announced they’re leaving their posts.

In Minneapolis, WCCO anchor Ali Lucia is leaving the CBS station. The Twin Cities broadcaster announced on social media that after six years of anchoring and doing traffic in the morning, she’s relocating to Chicago with her family for her husband’s job.

It’s unclear if she’ll continue to work in news.

At WHO-DT in Des Moines, Iowa, longtime anchor-reporter Sonya Heitshusen shocked viewers with her departure announcement Friday, but didn’t address the reason why she was leaving.

“Letting me come into your homes every day has been just such a joy, and allowing me to tell your stories has been an honor and a privilege, especially people who were just so courageous to give a voice to the voiceless, to speak up about injustices whether they be in society, in the workplace or in government,” Heitshusen said. “I hope I can mirror that courage as I move on through my life.”

Heitshusen has been at the station for 17 years.
