Nexstar Names Senior Vice President of Local Content

Nexstar has hired Susan Tully to fill a created a new position within the company.

Tully has been appointed svp of local content development. In this role, she will oversee the development of multi-platform local news and community-focused content group wide as Nexstar continues to move towards a ‘digital first’ focus.

Tully comes from Hartford, Conn. where she was vice president and general manager of WVIT, the NBC station in the market. Prior to that she was the vice president and general manager of KXAS in Dallas.

“In order to maintain our industry-wide reputation of delivering exceptional local content and service in our markets, we created this new position to ensure that we have the best resources in place to support our content strategies across our expanded scale immediately upon closing the pending Tribune transaction. Susan is an outstanding broadcasting leader who has a long-term record of developing highly-successful content strategies that drive viewership and revenue share growth, as well as a deep understanding of changing consumer media consumption preferences and device usage,” said Blake Russell, evp, station operations and content development of Nexstar Media Group.

News of this newly created position comes a day after Nexstar gets a step closer to merging with Tribune.
