New York Mayor Surprises SNL’s Chris Redd During His Impersonation on WNYW

Saturday Night Live cast member Chris Redd was joined by a special guest this morning while being interviewed on WNYW by Good Day New York anchor Rosanna Scotto.

Redd was doing his impersonation of New York mayor Eric Adams—whom he has played several times on the NBC show—when the mayor himself popped up on screen.

But Redd said he wasn’t surprised. “I heard you sound checking him earlier,” said Redd. “You thought you was going to surprise me but you see I’m too swaggy for that.”

Adams said Redd had the impression “down pat” but was missing one key thing. “I loved it, but he didn’t have my smoothie,” Adams told Scotto while holding up his drink.

“Mr. Mayor, you’re the first political person I was like, ‘Ah yeah. I know that dude.'” Redd said, telling Adams he reminded him of his uncles.
