WWL anchor Mike Hoss is leaving the New Orleans CBS affiliate after nearly 30 years to launch his own news outlet. reports Hoss is joining his wife Betty-Ann Hoss and longtime WWL photojournalist Tom Moore in a couple of months to start Hoss Communications, an independent digital newsroom.

“Channel 4 is responsible for everything that I have professionally and personally in my life,” Hoss wrote on Facebok. “They brought me to New Orleans, a unique place I had never been before. Without them I don’t fall in love with my wife, have two awesome kids and begin a love affair with the greatest ‘city of characters’ in the world. I owe everything to them and I’m grateful for their support.”

Hoss started at WWL as a sports reporter in 1989. He moved into news in 2001.
