WRC weekend anchor and reporter Meagan Fitzgerald is moving to the network side.
NBC News has hired the Washington, D.C., journalist to join the network as the newest Chicago-based correspondent, reporting for both NBC News and MSNBC.
Fitzgerald, who anchored the weekend editions of News4 Today, has been in Washington since 2015. Prior to that, she was a reporter at KUSA, the Tegna station in Denver. She started her career in Monroe, La., at KTVE. Fitzgerald is a three-time Emmy Award nominee.

We are pleased to announce that Meagan Fitzgerald is joining us as a correspondent based in Chicago, reporting across all NBC News and MSNBC platforms.
Meagan comes from NBC4 in Washington D.C. where she co-anchored the weekend editions of News4 TODAY. While at NBC4, Meagan was the first reporter at the scene of the 2015 ‘D.C. Mansion Murders’ and was first to report on air that the jury found the lone suspect guilty on all charges.
Prior to joining NBC4 in 2015, Meagan reported for KUSA-TV in Denver where she covered historic floods, fires, the 2012 mass shooting in Aurora and the legalization of marijuana. She began her career in Monroe, Louisiana at KTVE-TV where she uncovered payroll fraud in the city’s engineering department, resulting in the indictment of the head engineer and an employee.
Meagan is a graduate of Howard University and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Association of Black Journalists.
Meagan is also a three-time Emmy nominee and her work has been recognized by the Colorado Broadcast Association and the Colorado Black Journalist Association, which named her Best Broadcast Journalist of the Year.
