When NBC spreads its feathers in Boston next month, the peacock network will again be embroiled in a public battle with its local affiliate, WHDH-TV (Channel 7).
NBC plans to launch a Boston news and entertainment website that will compete with WHDH. The move comes almost a year after WHDH and NBC publicly sparred over the networks plan to air “The Jay Leno Show” at 10 p.m.
NBC has established 10 similar websites in markets where it owns and operates affiliates, including Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.
Those stations, owned and operated by NBC, are broadcast partners with NBC’s online venture and their sites have been consolidated into the network’s website. But that will not be the case in Boston. More…
