Monica Garcia Joins KVOA in Tucson as Anchor

Monica Garcia has joined Tucson NBC affiliate KVOA as an anchor.

“I left here as the morning reporter,” said Garcia. “Six years later I’m back as the main anchor. Could I have foreseen this coming? Yes. I love Arizona.”

Garcia is no stranger to KVOA, having worked at the station between 2014 and 2016. “News 4 Tucson was my first official on-air morning reporter job—and I learned a ton while I was here. This is really where I fell in love with Arizona, because I moved here from San Diego,” she said.

Garcia comes from KPHO in Phoenix and has also worked for KPNX. She started her career as a production assistant and writer at WRC in Washington, D.C. and has also worked at The San Diego Union Tribune—and at WJXX and WTLV in Jacksonville.

‘Tucson is one of those cities that people choose to come back to,” she told azcentral.

“I’m confident,” added Garcia. “I’m not scared to be on the air. But I hope as much as I love the community, I hope it loves me back.”
