Missouri Station Gets Creative With Show Sign Off

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

When KOAM-Fox 14, the CBS and Fox affiliate in Joplin, Missouri, found out the lack of a copyright license prevented them from ending the show with a tune, anchor Mike Olmstead and his evening team got creative.

He says they were going to roll out of the show with ‘The Puppy Show by Harry Nilsson.” But it turns out, the station doesn’t have a blanket license to play copyrighted music at the end of their show.

Olmsted, Jacob Lenard and meteorologist Doug Heady, were forced to come up with another sign off.
