WITI Milwaukee reporter Cassidy Williams lost all of her possessions in a fire over the weekend.
Williams just joined the Fox station as the morning reporter three months ago. On Saturday, she says a fire alarm woke her from her sleep. She ran out of the house and grabbed nothing but her coat and cellphone.
“You never realize how much you own until you don’t have anything,” she said in an interview with the station.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Cassidy shared more intimate details about seeing her gutted apartment for the first time and discovering that her grandmother’s necklace made it.
“She died when I was pretty young. She wore this every day,” said Williams.
Williams is now recovering and doing her best to get back on her feet. She thanked her new Fox 6 family for the support and the Red Cross.
