Man in Scuffle with N.Y. Reporter Says He Did it for Publicity

Key Jonta Foster, the man in the hockey mask who got into a scuffle with WABC reporter CeFann Kim during a live shot Friday night says he did it to promote his music.

“The reason I did it was because I knew I’d get negative feedback from it,” Foster told The New York Post. “I can always flip that. I saw an opportunity and took the opportunity to promote my video and mixed tape. From the beginning, it was friendly — I put my arm around him, and then he pushed me, grabbed me.” From The Post:

When he first put his arm around Kim, Foster yells about his video and says his stage name, Majesty Da Rebel, before WABC went to Kim’s package about an attempted rape in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.

Police have been looking for Foster since the incident that started live on the New York ABC-owned station.

“I’m not scared to deal with the consequences,” said Foster. “They’ll probably interrogate me, ask me what happened. White guys bomb video reporters all the time. A black man tries to get air time and then gets beat up by the reporter. I’m gonna do what I gotta do and seize an opportunity.”
