Macon Morning Anchor Dies in Accident

Taylor Terrell, morning anchor for Macon, Ga. NBC affiliate WMGT, has died after a fatal accident last night.

Terrell started at the station as an intern and worked her way to reporter before being named anchor.

“To say that this loss is devastating for us here at 41NBC and to her family is an understatement,” said news director Brandon Long on this morning’s newscast. “Taylor was scheduled to be off today to celebrate her 25th birthday. Instead, we’re remembering her spirit, her optimism, and her work.”

According to WLOS, Taylor died after falling 185 feet off of Rainbow Falls — inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

U.S. Forest Service said Taylor was wading in the stream that flows over Rainbow Falls on the Pissgah Ranger District, the news article said. She lost her footing and was swept over the falls by the current.
