“My friend (and co-worker) died this morning and I’m absolutely heartbroken,” Sharon Maines, station anchor and EP, wrote on her Facebook page. “Kelly Plasker had a smile as big as Texas and a heart of gold. She loved big and hurt deeply. She never got over the sudden death of her son Thomas, and then her father’s sudden death just months later. Her grief was a daily struggle but she put on that smile and persevered. If any of you are struggling please please please talk to someone. There are so many broken hearts today. Prayers for Kelly’s two children and her family and all of us who loved her. 💔 The National Suicide Hotline 1-800-273-8255 or Text GO to 741741.”

Plasker’s 19-year-old son, Thomas, took his own life in 2018.
