Louisville Anchor Talks to Her 8-Year-Old About Racism

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WHAS anchor Kristin Pierce is a mom who’s had to have tough conversations about race with her kids.

And recently, she’s been covering the protests in and around Louisville, Ky., for the Tegna-owned station.

But before George Floyd’s death, her son asked a question about race that she decided to tweet out. He asked, “Why do white people hate Black people?”

That question prompted Pierce to sit down with her 8-year-old son and have a conversation.

She shared her story with the station in a Zoom interview.

“I was sad,” she said.
