Longtime WSYR anchor Rod Wood’s wife lost her battle with cancer.

Nanette Ann Groat died at 73 on the couple’s 52nd wedding anniversary, which was May 25. Her death was made public today by an obituary that ran in local papers.

“It is said that behind every great man is a great woman; and, if that woman is a wife and mother, he is twice blessed. Nanette was that blessing. She filled those roles and then some,” her obituary said. “Nanette is irreplaceable, the hub of our family, an absolute original. … She will be missed beyond measure.”
