Longtime Houston Reporter Takes TEGNA Buyout

By Kevin Eck

KHOU reporter Doug Miller is leaving the Houston CBS affiliate.

Media blogger Mike McGuff reports Miller is taking the TEGNA buyout offer just like KVUE news director Frank Volpicella in Austin did.

Miller’s station bio says he started broadcasting a “Watergate-era radio talk show in El Paso” when he was 16. He started doing daily business reports for KHOU when he was managing editor of the Houston Business Journal. He joined the station in 1993.

Miller told McGuff he isn’t ruling working for his old station again.

“I’ve got a closet full of rain gear decorated with old KHOU logos,” Miller said. “If they need me in a pinch, God help me, I’d probably still meet the live truck halfway.”
