Longtime Atlanta Meteorologist Out Without Explanation

AJC.com is reporting that chief meteorologist Paul Ossmann left WGCL in Atlanta without explanation on Monday.

“We are unable to comment on personnel matters per policy,” his former boss, Steve Doerr, told the blog.

Ossmann started at CBS46 in 2012 as a fill in and was eventually moved into a full time position as chief.

He has had a long and sometimes bumpy career in Atlanta. He started at WAGA in 1988 to help launch Good Day Atlanta, and then moved to 11Alive before being dismissed after 13 years. At the time he was going through personal and financial issues.

On Tuesday, a note popped up on Paul’s social media page from his “social media team” which addressed his absence.

“Hi everyone it’s Paul’s social media team. As you may of heard, Monday was Paul’s last day at CBS46. He’s fine, thank you everyone for your kind notes and emails. Paul is going to be taking some time offline as he moves ahead with other projects he works on and will continue to post here with your local forecast discussions.”

His work page has been removed.
