By Kevin Eck

WNEP morning anchor Tom Williams is leaving the Scranton, Pa. ABC station after nearly 30 years.

Williams told viewers in an emotional speech at the end of this morning’s newscast he was leaving and thanked everyone for “a great run.” He also said he would be sharing “some exciting news” about his future in the coming days.

He interned at the station in 1987. After working in Wilkes-Barre and at WBNG in Binghamton, N.Y., he re-joined WNEP in 1992 as a reporter. He was named weekday morning anchor in 1996.
