487064_10151395983435695_129495379_nWayne Johnson, the popular twice-weekly lifestyle segment contributor, has been let go from Chicago NBC O&O WMAQ.

Johnson, who’s been with the station for nine years, announced the news of his departure on Facebook on Sunday, writing, in part:

All Good Things Must Come To An End – Today marks the 11 year anniversary of my Today Show experience and, sadly, my departure from WMAQ NBC 5. Got a call yesterday from the news director saying they are moving in a different direction and my segments wouldn’t be needed anymore in their current form. Bittersweet day. But, it has been a pleasure being a part of such a wonderful organization.

Johnson first gained national fame by winning the Today show’s “Domestic Diva” contest in April 2004.

He joined WMAQ in 2006 and is best known for his “Wayne’s Weekend” segments, which feature him cooking, decorating, doing various arts and crafts projects and updating viewers on fun events happening in Chicago.

There’s no word yet on what Johnson will do next.
