Leslie Barrett will helm her first broadcast as evening co-anchor at WFMJ, the NBC affiliate in Youngstown, OH, tonight. She will anchor the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts alongside Bob Black.
Barrett is a native of the Youngstown area. Her first experience with local television was at WFMJ — as a high school student, she spent time shadowing Michelle Nicks, who is still a reporter with the station.
“I feel lucky to be home,” Barrett told The Youngstown Vindicator. “I always dreamed of being here.”
Prior to joining WFMJ, Barrett spent four years as a reporter and weekend anchor at WTAP, the NBC affilate in Parkersburg, WV. She was the anchor of a weekly segment called “Wednesday’s Child,” which profiled local children in foster care and resulted in several adoptions, according to The Vindicator.
