WNBC New York anchor Chuck Scarborough is departing the station’s 11 p.m. broadcast after a 42 year-run. His final 11 p.m. newscast was last night.
But don’t worry, New Yorkers, he isn’t retiring just yet. The newsman will continue to anchor the station’s 6 p.m. newscast, while Stefan Holt takes over at 11 p.m.
“I just wanted to see what it was like being like the rest of the world lives,” Scarborough told the NY Daily News last month. “I’ve been working this 3 p.m. to midnight shift for half a century…But it’s not like I’m retiring … when news breaks, I promise you, I’ll be there.”
Longtime NBC 4 colleagues chief meteorologist Janice Huff and sports anchor Bruce Beck were among those who paid tribute to Scarborough via social media.
