Legendary Boston reporter Jorge Quiroga is leaving WCVB on a high note.

Last night, Quiroga was included into The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the prestigious Silver Circle. The Silver Circle honors individuals with 25 years of more service to the industry.

“Jorge is an incredibly talented and well-respected reporter who has made countless contributions to Channel 5 and the community throughout his years as part of the WCVB family,” said Bill Fine, WCVB president and general manager. “This Silver Circle honor is extremely well deserved and is a wonderful recognition of Jorge’s many years of excellence in the television industry.”

On the same day, the longtime reporter anchored his retirement from reporting at WCVB after almost 45 years.

Jorge also announced his retirement yesterday from his reporting duties at WCVB after almost 45 years as one of Boston’s most talented and beloved on-air personalities.

He joined the station in 1974. You can watch a tribute video here.
