Legendary Inauguration Announcer to Join WRC Coverage

By Kevin Eck

Washington, D.C. NBC-owned station WRC has hired longtime inauguration announcer Charlie Brotman to work on its inauguration coverage after he just found out he’d been replaced.

Brotman has announced every presidential inauguration since President Eisenhower took the oath of office for his second term in 1957, that is until he got an email telling him the Trump Inauguration Committee has replaced him with a Trump campaign volunteer.

“There is no question that you are a Washington institution and a national treasure,” read the email. “We would like you to come and be a part of the parade as announcer chairman emeritus. We will give you a prime time seat and pay the respect to you that is due to you.”

So WRC asked him to help them out. Brotman will join WRC anchors, reporters and commentators to offer his years of experience and inauguration expertise.
