Ned Reynolds has announced his retirement from KYTV.

“This is not a complete retirement announcement, but pretty darn close to it,” Reynolds said in a statement. “Over the years, I have had the opportunity to make some close friendships and wonderful associations. These memories will be locked deep in my soul forever.”

The Springfield, Mo. NBC affiliate said Reynolds’ last day will be December 1. He will continue to do play-by-play for Springfield Cardinals games.

Depending on who you listen to, Reynolds made a guest appearance on NBC’s Today Show when he was either 14 (according to the announcement) 15 (according to his bio) or 16 depending on the Today Show clip (above). He started at KYTV in 1967 after getting out of the Navy.

Chad Plein will take over Reynold’s sportscast at 6:00 p.m.
