Kurt Rivera Out at KBAK

By Kevin Eck

Kurt Rivera is no longer with CBS affiliate KBAK.

News director Cristi Jessee wouldn’t comment other than to say “we wish him the best” when confirming Rivera no longer works at the station.

Monday, the Bakersfield district attorney’s office said it wouldn’t file charges against Rivera, who had been arrested for spousal battery. His girlfriend was also arrested. The DA said it could’t figure out who the primary aggressor was.

The story of his arrest was reported on rival station KERO.

Officials said that at about 10:18 p.m. Kern County sheriff’s deputies were sent to an alarm call of a woman screaming she was being assaulted at a home in the 2700 block of Loma Alta in east Bakersfield.

Deputies said they found 50-year-old Kurt Rivera and 36-year-old Mindy Morrow inside the residence.

Deputies were able to determine that Rivera and Morrow resided together at the home and were involved in a domestic disturbance.
