KTVI Signs Former KMOV Anchor

Jasmine Huda is joining St. Louis Fox affiliate KTVI as the co-anchor of a new newscast.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Huda will join Shirley Washington as co-anchor of a new 11 p.m. newscast set to launch Monday, Jan. 18.

Huda, who also will be reporting for other evening newscasts, said she was energized by the fact that “we’ll be the only ones doing news at 11 — and that’s exciting.”

The new gig also means that Huda, who worked at KSDK from 2007 to 2010, now will have appeared as an anchor on all three major local stations.

KTVI’s new newscast will be 30 minutes long, with Huda and Washington being joined by meteorologist Chris Higgins and sportscaster Charlie Marlow. This is in addition to the 90 minutes of news the station presents between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

Huda left CBS affiliate KMOV after being passed over for the main anchor position there.

“It’s been a joy and a privilege to Co Anchor with Shirley on the Weekend News these past 8 years,” KTVI’s Elliott Davis wrote on Facebook. “She’s a consummate professional, a first class journalist and just an all around good person. So glad for her promotion to the new weekday 11pm News.”
