KOAT GM Says Albuquerque Police Chief Ignoring Her Station

KOAT GM Mary Lynn Roper says Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden is ignoring her station.

In a video posted to facebook,(click here to watch) the GM of the Albuquerque ABC affiliate said, “Instead of answering questions so we can inform you, the viewers, he has stiffed our reporters, made them wait for hours and then ignored them.”

Roper accused Eden of living behind a curtain like the Wizard of Oz and added, “C’mon chief, peek out and answer some questions.”

“As a news organization, we will not accept a statement, read by chief Eden on the internet as ‘good enough,'” said Roper, who added the station is only doing its job in asking tough questions.

APD was recently investigated by the Department of Justice for allegations of using excessive force during arrests. In a statement posted to the APD website,  the DOJ said, because of the investigation, “we have reasonable cause to believe that APD engages in a pattern or practice of use of excessive force, including deadly force, in violation of the Fourth Amendment and Section 14141.”

TVSpy has asked both Chief Eden and the Albuquerque PIO for a response. We will update when we hear back.
