KNBC vice president of news Todd Mokhtari is leaving the NBC flagship station in Los Angeles. He’s heading south to San Diego to become the vp and gm of KNSD and KUAN, the Telemundo station.
“Todd is well respected by his colleagues and peers and has done an exceptional job at KNBC. He’s spearheaded a complete restructuring of the station’s news operations, which has resulted in KNBC’s local news ranking No. 1 and No. 2 in the market among its key audiences,” said Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal-owned television stations. “His extensive familiarity with West Coast audiences, including communities up and down the California coast, will help to strengthen our already strong NBC and Telemundo San Diego teams.”
Mokhtari has been leading TV stations in Top 20 markets for more than 25 years. He worked at KNBC since 2012. While there he restructured the newsroom and launched new local newscasts and digital-mobile platforms.

Prior to KNBC, Mokhtari worked at KIRO as news director from 2007-2012. He’s relocating to San Diego.
