Seattle NBC affiliate KING and Boston CBS O&O WBZ took home Emmys at the 34th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards, handed out last night in New York City.

WBZ news director John Vermilli won in the Outstanding Regional News Story – Spot News category for his station’s coverage of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
KING won in the Outstanding Regional News Story – Investigative Reporting category for “Their Crime, Your Dime,” an investigation of fraud in Washington’s welfare system. Reporter Chris James Ingalls, photojournalist Steve Mark Douglas and executive producer of investigations Kellie Marie Cheadle were the recipients of the award.
