You may remember when KHOU reporter Brandi Smith helped save the life of a man who was trapped in Hurricane Harvey flood waters on live TV.

It was a moment that went viral. Smith was live when she saw Robert Roberson’s truck stranded and she flagged over deputies to help rescue him.

Yesterday, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner recognized Smith and her photographer Mario Sandoval with a Humanitarian Award for their heroism.

They were among a dozen people recognized in at the award ceremony.
