KCTV in Kansas City Launches Weather Show

Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV is launching a 30-minute show dedicated to weather in the Kansas City area.

The First Warn 5 Weather Show will debut at 6:30 p.m. today and will be a live, newscast-style show focused primarily on forecasting and the weather headlines of the day.

The show will be led by by chief meteorologist Luke Dorris.

“Kansas City is truly a special place for weather, unlike nearly any other place in the world,” said Dorris. “We are tremendously excited to serve our viewers with a weather show that gives them a forecast for their hometown, shares the fascinating science behind the storms, and is just exciting to watch.”

Dorris will work alongside anchors Carolyn Long and Brad Stephens, who will do quick news updates during the broadcast.

“Our commitment to weather has never been stronger,” said news director Josh Morgan. “There is only one story each day that we know impacts every viewer who tunes in, so we have created a program tailor-made to tell that story in the most meaningful way possible.”

The First Warn 5 Weather Show replaces KC Sports Tonight at 6:30 p.m. KC Sports Tonight will move to the KCTV5 streaming platforms Monday through Friday at 5:30 p.m.
