KCRA Adds 4 P.M. Newscast

Sacramento, Calif., NBC affiliate KCRA announced Monday it would add a 4 p.m. weekday newscast in January. The hourlong broadcast will be anchored by Lisa Gonzales and Brian Heap and begin Jan. 25.

“Just as we did when we expanded our 10:00 pm news, we are adding sizeable resources to our 4:00 pm newscast,” KCRA news director Lori Waldon said in a statement. “Viewers can expect strong, aggressive reporting…(and) breaking news has never been more important. KCRA 3 News at 4:00 pm is positioned to put our viewers on the very front lines of where news is happening.”

KCRA’s general manager, Elliott Troshinsky, said research indicates viewers want news at all hours of the day, and expanding to 4 p.m. “give(s) our viewers even more opportunity to get news and weather information.”
