On Tuesday evening, CBS News premiered a new online show from “Evening News” anchor Katie Couric titled “@katiecouric.” The show, which is sponsored by Dove, takes its name from Couric’s Twitter handle and Twitter was integrated into the debut as Beck answered questions that users posted on the online social platform.

The premiere episode welcomed polarizing Fox News pundit Glenn Beck who Couric described as a “one-man cottage industry” and who has followed up record ratings this summer with a Time magazine cover. The interview was shot in a style that has become typical of intimate one-on-one interviews with production equipment and lights prominently featured within the wide shot. Beck was self-deprecating and relatively soft-spoken as he reflected on his working class upbringing and battle with alcoholism.

The CBS News website describes “@katiecouric” as featuring “candid, in-depth interviews with newsmakers from the worlds of politics, business, medicine and entertainment.” The premiere episode was notably long for a web-based show, clocking in at just over 44 minutes.

Couric got the controversial media figure to share some promo-ready admissions. At one point Beck declared, “I am not a journalist. I’m an opinion guy.”
