After 24 years, Kathi Belich no longer works at Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV.
The Orlando Sentinel reports WFTV sent out a message Friday afternoon saying Belich no longer worked at the station.
The Sentinel’s Hal Boedeker reports Belich’s departure comes after newly elected Orange-Osceola state attorney Aramis Ayala took issue with a report about her husband. Belich came to the station in 1992.
From the Sentinel:
In an Aug. 24 Facebook post, Ayala wrote: “Last night, WFTV Channel 9 falsely reported that my loving husband David has a gun conviction on his record. This simply is not true. Today, we are demanding that they correct the record and publicly apologize.”
On Aug. 29, Ayala on Facebook described the report as “a horrible and false story about my husband.” But she noted: “WFTV has finally aired a correction and an apology. It was heartbreaking to see a loving father, friend and partner hurt by terrible reporting.”
