Kansas City Station Launches Spanish Language News Segment

By Kevin Eck

Kansas City CBS affiliate KCTV has launched a Spanish-language news segment to fill what it said is “a growing need for diverse and inclusive media representation.”

The segment is anchored by Carolina Cruz, who, the station said, is the only local fluent Spanish-speaking news anchor in the K.C. market.

“This is something we are so excited about and something we think is desperately needed in our community,” KCTV5 news director Josh Morgan said. “This is a major commitment to reaching and serving an audience that is often underserved.”
