Jim Serra says he’s retiring in June after more than 30 years at KPLC.

Serra started working at the Lake Charles, La. NBC affiliate in 1975. He went on to work at KSLA in Shreveport, La., WAVE in Louisville, Ky., WTVJ in Miami, Fla. and KSDK in St. Louis, Mo. before coming back to KPLC in 1982. He was named vp and GM in 1990.

“Jim has had an amazing 34-year career at KPLC, and it has been a privilege to work with him,” said Raycom Media Group vp Sandy Breland. “Under Jim’s leadership, KPLC has thrived as a dominant station and strong voice in the community. He has always been an advocate for his employees and his community.”

“Lake Charles is my home, and I have been so grateful to have served the people and employees of KPLC for all of these years,” said Serra. “I may be retiring from KPLC, but I still plan to be active in the community I love so much.”
