A KWTV intern learned more than how to put together a package this summer.

Lauren Fox helped save the life of a little boy who almost drowned on Father’s Day after learning pediatric CPR while out of a story with News 9 reporter Jessi Mitchell.

The Oklahoma University student received the EMSA Everyday Hero Award, which she says she didn’t expect.

“It’s so crazy that you would do this for me and make me feel so special because I don’t feel like a hero. I know I pulled him out and helped him but I think anyone in that situation would have at least helped him,” Fox said.

The 2-year-old has recovered from the incident.
