“I will be the beginning of a kidney transplant chain that will stretch across the country,” Galvin wrote on her facebook page. “I do not know who will receive my kidney, except that it is someone in LA who needs it.”
Galvin said she was inspired to donate after she did a story about a police officer who did the same. She donated the kidney through the Paired Kidney Donor Program.
According to the story she did about the officer, “The registry matches people who need a kidney and have a willing donor who is not a match for them with someone who is, connecting together a chain of transplants across the country.”
