Indianapolis Weekend Anchor Heads Home to Pittsburgh

Many journalists wait their entire careers to get a hometown job. After 10 years, it happened for Alyssa Raymond.

Raymond, the weekend anchor and reporter for WTHR’s 13 Sunrise show for the last three years, is leaving the NBC affiliate for a job at WPXI in her hometown of Pittsburgh. Her last day at WTHR was Oct. 4.

“For the last three years, I’ve called Indianapolis home and have grown to love this city,” Raymond said in a goodbye message on Facebook. “The one piece that’s missing though is family, and this year that missing piece was more apparent than ever. If you’ve followed my journey, you know I’ve been moving around a lot for this career. After 10 years, it’s time to go home.”

In her new job, Raymond will anchor WPXI’s weekend morning show and will be a fill-in anchor during the week.

I’m so excited to return to a place that’s always been in my heart,” she continued. “I hope I’ll be able to still make you smile even if it’s from a distance. Thank you Indiana for helping me grow into the person I am today. I am so grateful for the last three years here in Indy.”

Raymond previously worked at stations in Winchester, Va.; Little Rock, Ark.; and Cleveland. Early in her career, she was a freelancer in Pittsburgh.
