In First 24 Hours, Tegna Raises More Than A Million Dollars

Tegna says the Texas Cares initiative raised $1.15 million dollars in the first 24 hours.

The station group’s fundraising initiative, which spanned around all 46 stations in 38 markets, launched Monday.

“This is just the beginning. I want to especially thank Lowe’s Home Improvements who, during a Texas Cares telethon on WCNC in Charlotte, donated $500,000. I am incredibly proud of how our stations and communities have come together to help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey and serve the greater good,” said Dave Lougee, president and CEO.

Stations have been running stories on television and across social media and hosting telethons to tell viewers how they can help.
