Houston reporter Shelley Childers has left ABC owned station KTRK after working there for five years.
Childers announced the news on social media by saying the decision did not come easily.
“Working in this newsroom, with some of the best people in TV news was a childhood dream—now fulfilled,” she wrote on Instagram. “Today is my last day with @abc13houston—a decision that did not come easily.”

In a response to a viewer asking if she was leaving Houston, Childers said she isn’t going anywhere,”I just made the decision – a very (difficult) decision – to take a step back and spend more time with my family right now.”
She joined KTRK in 2018 from WXYZ Detroit where she worked for two years. She’s also worked at KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley.
