Andrew Pereira has been added to the communications team for Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell.

Pereira comes from ABC affiliate KITV where he’s worked since March 2012. He started working in local TV at NBC affiliate KHNL in 1995, working his way up from intern to morning news ep. He worked at Fox affiliate KHON from 2004 until 2012.

“In my opinion, Andrew has always been one of the top investigative journalists in Honolulu, and I’ve admired his writing, his drive to get a good story, and his dedication to accuracy and fairness,” Caldwell said, in a statement. “I look forward to working with him as part of the administration.”

The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports Pereira starts today.
